Community Activities
Through a variety of online and offline activities—including our guided online reading program, “Life Over Donuts” (adapted from Death Café), monthly themed book clubs, weekly expert interview livestreams, and regular film screenings—we showcase the vibrancy and warmth of our community.
Life Over Donuts is our localized adaptation of the global “Death Café” movement, which began in 2011. Its purpose is to create a safe and open space where people can meet face-to-face and share personal stories related to death. Through these conversations, participants learn to live with greater awareness and to support one another through both joy and sorrow.
Each month, we invite participants to read a carefully selected book together. The reading journey usually includes online sharing and concludes with a warm in-person gathering. Throughout the process, we strive to create a safe and respectful space for reflection and dialogue. Books we have read include Being Mortal, Tuesdays with Morrie, Man’s Search for Meaning, The Art of Presence, A Good Goodbye, Restarting Life, and others.
We host in-person monthly film screenings, selecting thought-provoking movies that explore the meaning of life and death. Through viewing, guest sharing, and group discussion, participants reflect together and build bridges between hearts through the stories and dialogues on screen. Films we have screened include The Bucket List, Departures, Tuesdays with Morrie, Beyond Death, Lighting Up the Stars, War Horse, and others.
